The Lohan School Prepares for 2017 Chinese New Year!
Chinese New Year started some 4000 years ago by farmers wishing and praying for a good harvest at the start of the pre-spring season. Today it has evolved into the start of a new business year and wishing for profits and success in various vocations. It is also a time when families celebrate their blessings and honor their ancestors with good food and good luck prayers.
The Lohan School of Shaolin introduced this celebration in Las Vegas with the opening of Chinatown Plaza over 20 years ago, and has since been a major part of the Las Vegas community performing this 2 week festival at major casinos, various businesses, and schools with their colorful lions, dragons, and Kung Fu warriors at the start of the New Year, and ending the final celebration in Chinatown on “Lantern Day”. The New Year starts with the New Lunar Moon of the Gregorian calendar and ends with the Full Moon or what the Chinese call “The Lantern Festival”. This year it will begin on January 28th and end with the annual celebration in Chinatown on February 12th.
